SAVE THE CHILDREN Jobs

The Save the Children Fund, commonly known as Save the Children, was established in the United Kingdom in 1919 to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war, and other conflicts.

WHAT WE DO:
Based on the UNCRC, Save the Children in Sudan implements programs that focus on Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Health, Humanitarian Response, Livelihoods, Nutrition, and WASH. Over the past 30 years, we managed programs in both conflict and non-conflict settings, and yet strives to build the resilience of the community towards sustainable development.
We implement these programs through partnerships with national organizations and community-based networks.
In 2013, through its programs, Save the Children has reached over 2.5 million people directly, of which over 1.6 million are children.

Save the Children started its operation in Sudan in 1983 when Save the Children UK came to provide humanitarian relief to the draught – affected people in western Sudan. One year after, Save the Children Sweden stepped in to respond to the draught in eastern Sudan and in 1985 Save the Children US joined its sister organizations to provide humanitarian support to the Eritrean and Ethiopian refugees along the eastern border of Sudan, as well as drought-affected people in areas of western Sudan, mainly in Kordofan and Darfur.

Since then Save the Children continued programming for children and families affected by conflict, displacement, extreme poverty, hunger and a lack of basic services. Many of the children and families we served were among the most vulnerable and hardest to reach.

In 2009, Save the Children US and Save the Children UK were among 13 international aid organizations to have their registrations revoked. After reaching an agreement with the government of Sudan, Save the Children US transferred programs and assets to Save the Children Sweden with an objective to maximize support for Save the Children Sweden to scale up its programs to assist vulnerable children and families in Sudan. We have maintained programming for children in both conflict and non – conflict settings and our programmes are either delivered directly or through partners.

Our current programming focuses on Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Health, Humanitarian Response, Livelihoods, Nutrition and WASH.

We are an international organization working in more than 120 countries. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. We help them to fulfil their potential.
