Innovation and Technology for Development Specialist – (220001KQ) – Save the Children
The Opportunity
The Save the Children in Sudan Innovation and T4D Specialist will lead all aspects of projects aiming to promote or explore innovative approaches, or introduce T4D elements to deliver programmes for children in Save the Children Sudan Country Office.
These aspects include participating and contributing to new proposal development that have innovation and/or technology for development components; Adopting and/or adapting existing innovation or technology products and services in new and/or existing projects within Save the Children; Building partnerships and networks with innovation and technology partners, start-ups and learning institutions to build or enhance SCI Innovation and IT4D capacity, capability and knowledge to deliver programmes for children and in the field locations.
This position will demand a highly motivated, and energetic individual who will be able to solve challenges, communicate effectively and bring others along with them on Save the Children Sudan’s Innovation and IT4D journey. S/he will be required to improve current systems from knowledge and experience.
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to ICT4D required (Development Studies, Computing Sciences/ Information Technology or relevant field), with an advanced degree in a related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years work experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrable experience in technology consulting, program development, and ICT4D implementation; with Prior knowledge of, and engagement with the innovation ecosystem in Sudan e.g. engagement with innovation hubs, hackathons, innovation networks or start-ups;
- Experience of working with INGOs and in particular field level programmatic experience or a strong experience in private sector which can fit into development programs is strongly preferred.
- Experience with database-driven web applications including having an up-to-date knowledge of the technology for development approaches
- Ability to perform a variety of conceptual analyses required for the formulation, administration and evaluation of projects
- Excellent planning, coordination, and reporting skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English, with experience working in multicultural, multi-location, value-driven teams;
- Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours and work with diverse community beneficiaries
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children International’s aims, values and principles.
