The work schedule for this position is:
- Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (8 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Relocation Expenses Reimbursed:
This is a non-supervisory position in the Executive Office. Incumbent performs as the Protocol Liaison to the Charge’ d’Affaires (CDA) and the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) on protocol matters, translate diplomatic notes, maintains data entry and retrieval of contacts database system. Incumbent directly reports to the Translator/Senior Protocol Supervisor.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of administrative or protocol experience at the executive level in government agencies or private, international organizations is required.
Job Knowledge: A thorough understanding of Sudan’s political, economic and social scene is required. A thorough understanding of etiquette, diplomatic protocol and the art of avoiding embarrassment is also required.
Two years undergraduate university diploma is required.
English: Level IV (Fluent, speaking, reading and writing) is required. (This may be tested)
Arabic: Level IV (Fluent, speaking, reading and writing) is required. (This may be tested)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with people more senior in authority and status of different backgrounds are required. Strong analytical and English language writing skills, the ability to work independently, and initiative are essential. Must maintain an extensive range of high-level contacts with Government of Sudan representatives and important economic, political, and civil society actors. Must provide and inform economic and political reporting with detachment and objectivity, and effectively communicate with contacts and Embassy leadership. Ability to work with statistics required.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in U.S. Mission may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.
