Duties

Under direct supervision of the senior LE Staff and guidance of the Vice Consul and Consular Section Chief, incumbent processes the full range of nonimmigrant (NIV) and immigrant (IV) visa services, including, but not limited to: intake and document screening, data entry, production of visas, distribution of passports to applicants, visa record filing, Arabic/English translation, management of the majority of immigrant and nonimmigrant visa correspondence, and provision of information by email, phone, or in person

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving the application of complex regulations (such as in consular, migration, immigration, or refugee work) along with extensive public customer service is required

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Should understand basic principles of customer service and have superior business correspondence skills and should have a basic understanding of Sudanese civil and family law procedures, and US immigration regulations.Education Requirements:

University, College studies is required.Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: 

English: Level IV (Fluent, speaking, reading and writing) is required. (This may be tested)

Arabic: Level IV (Fluent, speaking, reading and writing) is required. (This may be tested)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Must have excellent written English and be comfortable drafting formal correspondence.
  • Must be comfortable working on a PC in a Windows environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Ability to exercise tact and good judgment under stress in dealing with the public.
  • Ability to work under continuous pressure.
  • Ability to take initiative in identifying ways to improve processing.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Sudan may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
