As a priority, NRC is therefore hiring a Finance Officer to be part of establishing NRC’s programme in Sudan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Management of cash and bank account of the Geneina area office, including the forecasting
  4. Ensure financial internal controls are in place while the banking and cash system is working
  5. Post the entries on daily basis to Agresso. Make sure that the data has correct codes and as per the project documents and are signed according to the authorization table
  6. Prepare the regular Agresso Bank reconciliations for all the balance sheet items
  7. Proper close of the projects and year-end close
  8. Enter the Agresso rebooking and keeping proper record of it
  9. Preparation of financial reports as required by the Country Office Finance Manager
  10. Ensure budget holders have access to the BvA and participate in monthly meetings with the budget holder at area level
  11. Support budget holders and project teams in preparation of forecasts
  12. Verify the purchase requests and payment requests and ensure signatories are according to authorization table  
  13. Support the Area Manager in preparation of the master budget and new donor budgets and revision of existing donor budget
  14. Train the staff on the Agresso and excel tools,  and support the project teams to understand the financial reports and provide trainings as required

Required skills

  • Experience from working as a Finance Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context will be preferred.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about keeping the bank accounts and record keeping
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic, written and spoken
  • Preferred to be located in Geneina
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Service minded, with strong organizational and planning skills
  • Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
  • Good diplomacy and negotiating skills
  • Attention to details, problem solving skill, excellent time management skills
