Context:
Search for Common Ground
Search is an international conflict transformation NGO that aims to transform the way individuals, groups, governments and companies deal with conflict – away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative solutions. Since 2019, Search Sudan designs and implements multifaceted, culturally appropriate and conflict-sensitive programs using a diverse range of tools, including media and training, to promote dialogue, increase knowledge and determine a positive shift in behaviors.
Summary of the Consultancy
To capture and highlight the impact of Search’s programming across Sudan, Search for Common Ground Sudan is seeking a skilled, creative and enthusiastic Videographer to support its team. The Videographer consultant will work closely with the Communication and Impact Expert to understand notable success stories as a result of Search’s ongoing programs. The Videographer will translate this information into engaging, sensitized and high-quality videos (with Arabic and English subtitles where relevant) in support of Search Sudan’s communication and visibility strategy with a highlight video and short documentary. The Videographer will report to Search’s Media Officer – benefiting from his technical expertise, guidance and achieving his final approval for all created video content.The Videographer will be located in Khartoum and must be willing to travel regularly to the program’s target states (South Kordofan, Blue Nile, Gadarif, West Kordofan, Abyei Administrative Area (AAA) and Khartoum) to shoot videos and films. Search will provide the selected candidate with ground transportation and accommodation while in the field.
Statement of Work:
- Script, shoot and edit high-quality video content ranging from 3 to 15 minutes (video capturing the key results and successes of the project and a documentary video of the entire project – with accurate English and Arabic subtitles where relevant)
- Pitch, develop and materialize engaging video storylines/concepts that capture core message of the project in a conflict-sensitive and timely manner
- Conduct and film authentic interviews (in English or Arabic where relevant) with beneficiaries of Search’s programming in a conflict-sensitive and respectful manner
- Identify shooting venues and ensure their complete compliance with Search’s safety and security protocol
- Capture and visually document the stories, experiences and lived realities of Search program’s beneficiaries in complete respect for their dignity, autonomy and privacy
- Prioritize the comfort and safety of all interviewed/filmed program beneficiaries – ensuring that full consent is obtained from filmed program beneficiaries before proceeding with any shoot
- Actively seek out, engage and positively portray diverse members of society
- Actively contribute to Search Sudan’s communication, visibility and impact strategy in Sudan
- Support Search’s Media Officer and Social Media Interns to reflect captured success stories across social media platforms with relevant high quality video content and photographs
- Collaborate with Search’s DME to identify potential project beneficiaries to be interviewed
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in film, media, management, production, or a related field – priority will be given to candidates with proven technical experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working on video production, editing and/or filming as part of a production team.
- In-depth knowledge of video production processes and activities
- Expert proficiency in video editing software
- Able to lead a production team and manage several tasks at once.
- Calm under pressure and comfortable with a fast-paced work environment.
- Problem-solving skills, deadline-focused, and goal-driven.
- Meticulous in their work with high standards of excellence.
- Advanced interpersonal skills – able to communicate and resonate with diverse individuals
- A good team player and ready to work with diverse team of employees – able to establish and maintain good relationships with colleagues and partners.
- Confident, passionate, and professional.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
Timeline:
- The consultancy will be between March 2022 to end of April 2022. The consultant will be paid upon receipt of approved video content.
