To ensure the safety and security of the DRC compound and its staff members
Duty & Responsibility:
Incumbent Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Safeguarding premises and all property whilst on duty.
- Maintenance of premises and ensuring good sanitation of the office premises and ensuring equipment like lights, gates, locks and keys, torches, defensive devises etc being well maintained and ever functioning.
- Controls access to the office and the house by announcing visitors to the person they want to meet and seating the visitor, politely, outside the office or house until access is granted.
- Makes sure that, following DRC rules, no armed person enters the compound.
- Manning the gate and reporting in case of unknown visitors and guide well known visitors into the office.
- Ensure that the area outside the compound is kept in a tidy manner, including inside the generator cage
- Assist DRC expatriates to the Guest house at anytime during the day/night.
- No radio, television or any other form of entertainment during working hours.
- Remain available on the premises during working hours and remain on duty until relieved. Stay awake during working hours. During duty the guard must be at his post and alert at all times.
- When all staff has left the office, or in case of rain or sand storm, closes all covers of the windows and ensures that all items outside are stored safely.
- At the end of the working day, ensures the main doors are closed and locked. After curfew, ensures gates are locked and no one enters or leaves until curfew lifts in the morning
- Reports any incident or event linked to security to his supervisor or the people present in the house or office.
- Ensures a proper handover of all information, keys and working tools to the next person on duty.
Ensure water supply
- Records water deliveries as they happen, and switch on the water pump according to the schedule defined at their location, monitoring the functioning of the water pump and reporting any malfunction to the supervisor.
Generator
- Ensure that the generator is started when there are power cuts, and keep records of operation in the generator log book, reporting any problems to the Logistic Officer immediately
- Checks oil, cooling water and fuel before starting the generator
- Ensures there is always enough fuel and informs his supervisor if supply is necessary.
- Keeps track of generator hours, the generator should not turn more than 12 hours consecutively and should not turn when there is no one present at the house.
- Monitors the availability of city power and the switching between city power and generator.
Additional tasks
On request perform any other additional duties assigned by the supervisors in order to allow the organization to function optimally.

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Experience in administrative tasks, including filing systems.
• Advanced English proficiency
• Fluency in Arabic

Education:
