Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in El Fasher in the Warehousing Unit of the Supply Chain Management Pillar (SCM) of the African Union – United Nations Operation in Darfur (UNAMID). The Supply Officer FS-6 reports to the Chief Supply Chain Management Service to whom he/she will effectively and efficiently manage all operational matters related to Warehousing operations.
Within delegated authority, the Supply Officer FS-6 will carry out the following duties:
• Develops, implements, and monitors warehouse cycle count plan, stock control system inbound delivery monitoring, receiving, batch management, transfer orders, and putting away promptly to meet the corporate KPIs.
• Monitors UMOJA Inventory data quality through the analysis of Business Intelligence Reports and takes corrective action as required.
• Designs, develops and updates relevant software for tracking, reconciliation, and costing purposes.
• Initiates actions leading to procurement, and disposal of materials.
• Undertakes market research, develop Scope of Works in contract development for goods and services to United Nation’s (UN) requirements.
• Reviews mission requirements for materials in conjunction with Technical Units and, initiates actions to fulfil these requests.
• Recommends plans for redeployment or disposal of warehouse stocks when Missions are liquidated.
• Analyzes problems, audit and performance reports on mission activities and provides remedial action programmes where required.
• Maintains accurate records and control of all equipment and materials received, stored and disposed of by the mission.
• In liaison with Movement Control Section, ensures cargo delivered by vendors are received promptly for inspection by Technical Sections and Warehouse representatives, and that stock Put-Away is performed as soon as Goods Receipt posting is executed in UMOJA.
• Provides guidance on Warehousing best practices particularly in Health & Safety standards and contributes to development and efficiency of supervised staff.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Professionalism: Knowledge of supply operations including contract management of large scale goods or services. Ability to provide professional technical advice on a broad range of supply chain management areas. Ability to develop, maintain and supervise management control systems for materials, services and claims and ability to demonstrate fiscal awareness and responsibility and very good knowledge of UN financial rules. • Accountability: Takes ownership of all responsibilities and honours commitments; delivers outputs for which one has responsibility within prescribed time, cost and quality standards; operates in compliance with organizational regulations and rules; supports subordinates, provides oversight and takes responsibility for delegated assignments; takes personal responsibility for his/her own shortcomings and those of the work unit, where applicable.
High school or equivalent diploma is required. Technical certificate or other courses and training programs relating to the work is desirable.
- A high school diploma and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in supply services, administration, logistics, engineering, project management or related area OR a first level university degree and a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in supply services, administration, logistics, engineering, project management or related area is required.
- Experience in SAP/UMOJA ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) and related modules to include experience in using Business Intelligence Reports is required.
- Property Control and Receiving and Inspection in Peacekeeping missions and proven ability in analytical work is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
• This position is temporarily available until 30/09/2021 with possibility of further extension. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
• While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post.
• Subject to the funding source of the position, the eligibility for this temporary job opening may be limited to candidates based at the duty station.
• This temporary job opening may be limited to “internal candidates,” who have been recruited through a competitive examination administered according to staff rule 4.16 or staff selection process including the review of a central review body established according to staff rule 4.15.
