Background Information – Job-specific
The internship is a learning and working opportunity that targets graduates both fresh and those already in the job market. The intern will assist the Project Manager efficiently and effectively in engineering-related tasks and administrative support to KOICA projects in Khartoum office. The intern will be exposed to practical learning and working experiences that foster development of his /her path. The Intern will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager.The intern will support the completion of KOICA projects in Khartoum, the projects are focused on construction and procurement.
Functional Responsibilities
- Help preparation of technical drawings (shop drawing or as built drawing) if needed.
- Support in generating documents in case of design change (structural design and analysis, drawings)
- Attending meetings and taking minutes.
- Prepare letters and other documents as needed.
- Support and follow up HSSE reporting.
- Perform all document controlling activities.
- Help preparation of engineering cost estimates for planned and built infrastructure for contractor’s payment, and support in sorting out construction variations.
- Follow up different issues with Government partners.
- Administering the receipt of items for procurement project, inspection and report preparation.
- Support in monthly, and quarterly reporting and update the system accordingly.
- Follow up retainers payments and support in preparing requisitions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the project manager.
Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education
- A Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or related fields is required.
- Applicants should have graduated from the above stated fields within three (3) years prior to the applications date of the internship.
- AutoCAD, 3D, ArchiCAD, and structural design and analysis software knowledge is an asset.
Work experience
- Applicants are not required to have professional work experience. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.

- Fluency in oral and written English is required.

This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.
Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Further, UNOPS may provide a one time travel lumpsum of 500 USD. However, they must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and necessary visa arrangements.
